KEY FOCUS: MAKING INSTRUCTIONAL COACHING WORK IN PLAY-BASED CLASSROOMS
When is it, and where is it?

Thursday 30th October - Sunday 2nd November 2025 at The Serenity Resort, Pattaya.

What is it?

An intensive 3.5 day professional retreat for Early Years and KS1 leaders, set in a tranquil tropical haven just hours from Bangkok.

 Who is it for?

Leaders of play-based practice in the Early Years and KS1

Whether you're using or exploring instructional coaching, or simply seeking support and tools to take your leadership to the next level, this retreat will equip you to build shared understanding with your team, and drive real improvements in teaching and learning.

Why a retreat?

We know that learning happens best when wellbeing is high, so this is your peaceful, but professional space to pause, reflect, and grow. A rare chance to recalibrate your energy, collaborate with fellow leaders, and sharpen your focus on the impact you want to make through your leadership.

How much is it?

From 795 GBP to 995 GBP depending on shared or single occupancy room

 It’s not just a course – it’s a professional reset.

Step away from day-to-day demands and into The Leadership Recharge, at a fully-staffed private villa resort. Here you will find a serene pool, lush tropical gardens, and white sand beaches  nearby, all just a few hours outside of Bangkok.

This one-of-a-kind professional learning experience offers a rare opportunity: deep professional and personal nourishment in a beautiful setting, guided by expert facilitators who will support you in clarifying your purpose, sharpening your vision, and exploring what truly drives meaningful change in play-based, developmentally respectful practice.

What you will learn:
  • The power of instructional coaching to create lasting impact on teaching and learning
  • How to design an instructional coaching model that aligns with play based pedagogy
  • What an effective Early Years Coaching Playbook can look like - take away a copy
  • In-depth case study showing how one early years leader has drawn on the work of Jim Knight & Tom Sherrington to create an early years specific coaching programme based upon Kym’s professional learning platform ‘The Place to Learn’
What to expect:
  • Time, space and support to reset your leadership direction and priorities
  • Countless opportunities to assimilate information, and reflect upon how best to use it.
  • Collaborate in shared thinking, and partner for informal peer coaching with like-minded leaders
  • Leave with a clear plan & materials for improving teaching and learning through coaching
  • Follow up online support to help with implementing plans once back in school
  • Retreat begins at 1pm on Thursday 30th October with an optional visit to Bangkok Patana School to observe their early years work and hear about the impact of instructional coaching in the school.

  • The next three days of intensive professional learning will be interspersed with pauses for reflection and rejuvenation, using wellness activities to support both professional insight and personal restoration.
