Supporting children's

literacy and mathematical

development through play

and practical experiences

   Time:  1 - 4 pm

Cost: £50 per person

This session is aimed at staff at all levels wishing to further develop their understanding of excellent EYFS practice, and is especially suited to teaching assistants and those new to the age range. It will focus on the key elements that lead to high quality child-initiated learning and how to extend maths and literacy learning within this.

Key aspects addressed include:
* The role of the adult: how to interact with children in ways which
extend their play, and help them to consolidate core learning in literacy and mathematics.
* The role of the environment: how to provide challenging yet
authentic learning opportunities indoors and out which promote learning in these two areas.
