When and where is it?

Friday 27th Feb - Sunday 1st March 2026 at Bangkok Patana School, Bangkok, Thailand

What is it?

This three-day professional learning experience is designed to help educators reimagine writing from the earliest marks in Nursery to purposeful, confident writing in Year 4. It will be followed up by two online impact evaluation sessions to offer further support.

Who is it for?
  •  Early Years and Primary Teachers (Nursery–Y4) seeking practical ways to support all children as confident writers.
  •  Literacy Leaders and Phase Leaders who want to build a coherent, inspiring approach to writing across phases.
  •  Senior Leaders: looking for high-impact strategies to raise writing standards while nurturing creativity and child-led learning.
How much is it?

Cost: 24,000 THB for all three days

To get the full benefit of the conference, we recommend attending all three days, as each session builds on the last to take you through the complete journey of a child’s writing development. However, you are welcome to attend individual days, which can be booked separately at 9,000 THB per day.

Over the three days, Kym and Jonny will share a model for a writing programme rooted in a developmentally appropriate and playful approach, which enhances, rather than  compromises curriculum expectations.

It will focus on embracing  writing as a powerful tool for thinking, communication and creativity rather than just a curriculum outcome.

Combining practical strategies with pedagogical clarity, this conference equips practitioners with everything they need to build a continuum of writing that begins with imagination and ends with real impact.

Come along and reignite your  belief in what writing can be.

What you’ll gain from attending:
  •  Understand the essential foundations that underpin writing, such as motor development, auditory and visual discrimination, narrative development, a positive sense of themselves as writers and how to securely establish these in the youngest learners.

  • Identify and respond to gaps in older children’s foundational knowledge, with supportive strategies that rebuild confidence and competence without shame

  • Acquire tools, confidence, and clarity to support young writers to think deeply, express themselves freely, and engage fully.

  • Rethink traditional primary literacy lesson structures to maximise opportunities for language play, vocabulary building, and grammar development, before children even pick up a pencil

  • Create a programme of meaningful, memorable writing experiences that engage learners and nurture creativity

  • Examine the adult’s role in breaking down barriers for reluctant writers whilst extending those working at greater depth.

  • Build a bank of strategies for teaching text and sentence structure, alongside vocabulary and language choices for a wide range of genres.

  • Explore playful, practical approaches that ensure oral language directly improves the quality of written outcomes.

  • Online follow-up support to reflect on the impact of the in-person sessions and to help identify next steps for implementation

  • Overview:

Day 1 will focus on the foundational knowledge and skills essential for writing, with guidance tailored for those working with children in the early years, as well as older learners who may still require this crucial early support.

Day 2 and 3 will focus on establishing planning and practices that inspire,  instil confidence and develop agency from Reception to Yr 4.

2 x 1.5 online impact evaluation sessions will take place in March and May 2026 (dates TBC)
