About me

I work with early years teams in the UK and internationally to improve practice in ways that are human, practical and sustainable. My focus is on relationships, high-quality interactions, and play that leads to real learning. I offer consultancy, training and keynotes, and I run The Place to Learn, an online CPD library. I also co-lead Press Play, exploring how play can flow through the primary years.

Call To Action

My path

I started over 25 years ago as a nanny and pre-school assistant in Norfolk, learning what respectful care looks like day to day. I moved into teaching and leadership in London, where I built teams, shaped environments and kept the focus on what helps children thrive. Later, as part of the Lewisham Early Years Advisory team, I worked with many schools and settings and saw close-up what genuinely improves provision and outcomes ā€” and what gets in the way.

For the past decade Iā€™ve worked independently with schools, trusts and organisations across the UK and overseas. Different curricula, languages and cultures have broadened my perspective. The constants are clarity, consistency and a calm, confident team.

What I do today

Most of my work blends time in classrooms with time alongside leaders. I observe practice, listen carefully and agree priorities with you. I share clear steps staff can use straight away and follow up so good intentions turn into lasting change. Paperwork stays light. Time is respected. The aim is better experiences for children and a team that feels steady and supported.

Alongside live work, The Place to Learn offers on-demand training your team can revisit any time. Press Play brings together ideas and tools for keeping play alive beyond the early years.

Affiliations and recognition

Iā€™ve worked with the Department for Education, The National College, Early Excellence and BEAM, and Iā€™m an associate consultant for Early Education. Iā€™m an affiliate of FOBISIA and BSME, and I was shortlisted for Nursery Worldā€™s Trainer of the Year in 2022.
